Essentially, the ECO scheme enforces a Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) on all of the major UK energy suppliers. This means that the major UK energy suppliers must provide financial support to low-income, vulnerable households that are struggling to heat their home.

How to apply for a free boiler upgrade

- Contact your local council – find your local council website, check whether they are participating in the scheme and locate their Statement of Intent to confirm you meet their requirements.

How long will the process take?

This is because the Local Council or energy supplier will need to do various checks to make sure you qualify.
